Milkshake Dept. - Bass' Bass, Sunday's Hip Disk & Time Machine - (Japan/David Sylvian's) Rain Tree Crow

It was a musical gap I had... as a die-hard David Sylvian's fan, gelt sooo ignorant and flawed as I needed an hint from my friend Franz (the italian one:-))), supported by Ivan the Pusher, to find this gem...

Recorded back in early '90s, it was issued on 1991... it sounds soooo modern and updated to these days it's an amazing last effort from Japan sans-Sakamoto...

Mick Karn's bass in track 4 (titled "Red Earth (as summertime ends") is sublimely subterrean as it can be and music as a whole is incredibly lively and surprising... a perfect mix of progressive, Sylvian's  and... dark overall beauty... you hear echoes of mighty Tony Levine's bass with King Crimson or Peter Gabriel and electric guitar is sometimes reminding Adrian Belew, in, say, KC's "Discipline"... percussions are KC's "Lark's Tongue in Aspic" with Jamie Muir great playing... also some Tom Waits' "Swordfishtrombone" or "Bone Machine" is, someway, here.

Listening to this disk I felt... well, better... hip & cool in the foggy, rainy, dull Sunday morning...

Halloween is over, Chicco is always deeply missed and my very own sun is music...
