A rare Telefunken 085a studio loudspeaker cabinet (1 piece), made in 1963. The cabinet is equipped with two woofers (Ela L281), directed forward, and sixteen mid-range and treble loudspeakers (Ela L615), eight of which are directed forward and the remaining eight to the left, the right and the upper sides. In the past, these cabinets were only used in major German radio and TV studios.
Smaller dimensions and lower weight are the outer differences between this 085a and its predecessor, the 085. The switch for the mode of operation, which controls the portion of sound energy radiated in a diffuse way in order to achieve a more “present" or a more "roomy" sound pattern, comprises now two positions only, namely the position "present" for the "flat" and the position "diffuse" for the "roomy" sound pattern.
The crossover network guarantees that, independent of the chosen mode of operation, the load of the amplifier and the total power drawn by the loudspeakers remain nearly constant.
The speaker has the amplifier mounting support S66 and a Telefunken V369 35W transistor amplifier installed. Included in the sale is a new audio input cable with the original Telefunken connector, and the power supply cable. Notice that the cabinet is running on exactly 220v.
This 085a is still in original condition with all original parts installed. All speakers are working fine and the sound is out of this world. I haven't heard such a sound before in my entire life and it really hurts to sell this gem.
The dimensions are: 136,5 × 67,0 x 38,5 cm.
Weight with the amp installed: 68,5 kg.
Not my own, from the Web .
