A one of a kind ‘59 Gibson ES-335

 

The modification to a Gibson 335 from the 1950s can appear as a disfigurement of the originality of an instrument of great historical and musical value. But in some cases that very modification can be used to transform a rare instrument into a "unique" of inestimable value.

Esoteric P-2 transport and D-2 DAC are - aehm: were - the peak of Teac’s research in digital domain… only 20+ years ago 😱😎😇!

The point is: are the above gears still valuable and worth buying and - most of all - listening to?

My opinion?

Yes, indeed!

Building quality is awesome and sound quality, too… lacking the edginess of more modern designs, still keeping a stunning detailing and musicality.

Low-end is unbelievable: articulating and modulating at highest levels of ground-shaking resolution.

P.S. - buying this combo in its hey days would have been worth a kidney 😏… now, if you find it in nice shape (as I did), they’re a breeze to buy 🥂
