HYPERION, the tallest tree on the planet
This tree measures 115.85 meters tall and its trunk has a diameter of between 4 and 5 meters. 🧐
It is a relatively young Sequoia Sempervirens, about 800 years old. To give you an idea of its height, consider that the Big Ben tower is only 96 meters high.

This photo is not the actual Hyperion tree. It was used for "illustration" purposes for a post about the Hyperion tree at some point and as often happens, people did not notice the disclaimer explaining the photo isn't the actual tree. Sharing around the internet over time has spread the false idea that it is the actual tree. The location of Hyperion is not made public in order to protect it from visitors damaging it and vandals potentially seriously harming it.
Thanks for your insight, Ned 🖖
