AKG C12 💫💎💫

Did you know? When Geoff Emerick joined The Beatles as their engineer in 1966, he recorded bass guitar with the AKG D20. But by the time sessions for Sgt. Pepper began, Emerick had developed a deep preference for the AKG C12.

As producer George Martin, often called the "Fifth Beatle," put it:

"The C12, a valve-operated condenser, was a marvelous mic. It was very sensitive and could pick up things with great clarity from quite a distance away—it was a very 'hot' mic, as the Americans would say."

Big thanks to @denis_yambor for this stunning shot of the vintage AKG C12—one of the most legendary tube condenser microphones in recording history.
