Class D… one right ✅

Today I tried something I was thinking about for the last few days: preparing for the next arrival of second ESL’s pair, I unwrapped a Nuforce MCA-20 “Stealth” which I used to quadri-amp my Goto horns system… I plan to use it for a “stacked-pair” to come, like a 4 channels amp, but today I only used as a conventional stereo 2 channels L/R… what I heard was eye-brows rising as the clean, grain-free sound was eerie and dynamic and more detailed and soundstage in depth and - most of all - in height were audibly MUCH improved. Impressive! Class D done right can truly be a viable option with our ESL… as a positive by-product, the Nuforce barely get mildly warm after some hours listening, while the Hiraga 20W becomes HOT after half an hour. Last but not least, the MCA-20 copes very well - I guess - with the tormented impedance curve of ESL at high frequencies… the humble black box is blissfully stable from 2 to 16 ohms. I’ve been enjoying this beauty for hours, now. The preamp shown is an Audio Consulting “Silver Rock” and I used Tara Labs “Space & Time” solid core cables to the ESL.

The Dymo stickers still shows how I used the Nuforce for multiamping 😏
