Orville Gibson in 1894

... yes, folks!

The man who - with Leo Fender and C.F. Martin - changed the music...

He was such a dandy, isn’t he?!?

Pierre Dørge & John Tchicai’s Dadaist disc

I became acquainted to these awesome music and musicians some years ago and never regretted.

This Steeplechase’s pressing is a live recording at Louisiana museum of modern-art in Copenhagen dedicated to the Bern-born 😄 Dadaist artist Hugo Ball.

The duo interacts with innovative and adventurous blending and the recording is first-rate, too: dynamics and ambience is nothing short of amazing!

An humble masterpiece.

Studer 961

In the 50 (fifty!) years of recording passion I only used two mixers, Studer 961 and Stellavox AMI-48, and - since now - I only owned the latter.

As I recently sold the Stellavox’, superbly sounding, pocket-sized but also limited, I had a chance of a good deal for a well-cared of Studer’s and simply couldn’t resist...

I’ll have to re-learn the basics, but am motivated for my own musical projects, also looking forward of using on location with other fellow musicians.

Capt. Beefheart and Magic Band

Always loved this picture, taken from same photographic-session which gave to the world the inner, foldable cover of Trout Mask Replica 🥇

The drummer dazzles the chicks 🥳😂🥳

Studer AG - an end 😥

Here is a series of pictures which represents the end of an era: the Studer R&D, offices and workshop in Regensdorf, CH, will be razed to the ground, tomorrow...

Herr Walter Stutz (owner and curator of Studer/Revox Museum in Zurich, CH)  was able to secure the original “STUDER” logo...

That’s it, folks... the amazingly good gears bringing the Studer logo survived the place where they were conceived and painstakingly built.

A few seconds of respectful silence, please...

Gray 108C viscous damping arm

After being over-over-busy for the last few months, I’ll be mounting - at last - this beauty: a minty Gray 108C, pre-owned by some among the most beloved and esteemed people I know - i.e. Chris, Nate, Andy (they know who they are 😘🥇🥇🥇😘).

Here are some random pixies of this old monument, much more sophisticated and well-conceived than its clunky appearance would suggest.

Time has come to give it a try, also for an oblomovist 🦥 sloth like I am 🥳

William’s Lignum vitae/bronze clamp

A superb, organic clamp, a joint-venture project made out of 90 years old Lignum Vitae wood, among hardest, densest woods, and precision lathed bronze.

The gorgeous, silky finish is time-consuming, handmade shellac/French-polish.

Weight is around 1800 grams, so don’t try it on your stock turntable or you’ll smash bearing! 😱⚠️😱

The beauty of this handicraft is inferior to its sonic merits🥇

Bravo, William 🥂

Spot me 🥳

A little help: both the Guild D55 and the hairs are gone 😱

Many yesterday...

A friend suggested I’d post some real-life pixies, not necessarily audio related  - i.e. - shot during daily walk and the like - so, here they are, Fabio.
