Dieter Rams or home audio done right 💫

In 1958, Dieter Rams signed one of his most remarkable creations for Braun: the L2 loudspeaker.

A sculptural sound object, it embodies the perfect alliance between technical rigor and aesthetic purity.

Mounted on a tubular steel frame, the L2 seems to float above the floor. Its light-colored front pierced by a black perforated circle earned it the nickname “washing machine” among collectors. Behind this visual simplicity lies a serious configuration: a large woofer of nearly 25 cm supported by two oval drivers, delivering a balanced reproduction tailored to Braun amplifiers of the era.

With its imposing dimensions (72 cm high, 43 cm wide, 32 cm deep) and precious wood side panels, it stands as an icon of German modernist design. Today, the Braun L2 is not only an audiophile rarity: it is a major collector’s piece, a testament to the golden age when design and high fidelity advanced hand in hand.
