This truly wonderful disk is a recent random discovery - attracted by Thomas Morgan and Paul Motian names - while browsing at my trusty record shop.
It’s a nice trio (Kikuchi-san on piano, Thomas Morgan on double-bass and Paul Motian on drums), masterfully recorded as per usual high ECM’s standards and a pleasure to listen to.
This disk was Masabumi Kikuchi’s ECM debut… he sadly passed in 2015.

Thanks to Tyran Grillo for his always amazing reviews about all and every ECM.

Yes, a lovely, enigmatic CD. The only other I have is Black Orpheus, a solo set. I think Sunrise is the more interesting of the two because of the interaction of two equally enigmatic talents -- Poo and Motian. I didn't realise (until Google told me) that he recorded with Miles Davis during the latter's years of withdrawal in the 70s, but these recordings were never released. I wonder whether anyone has heard them...?
