Yesterday evening: a stellar “Bill Frisell Trio” at Teatro Comunale in Vicenza: the last concert of 2024 Jazz Festival… a long suite of standards… with typical Frisell’s shyness on stage, harmonic lines sometimes a tad too repeated, in an "ostinato" in search of the perfect dissonance, flashes of an "adventurous" sound that I personally love more, solo escapes with a gentle distortion.
The encore? A very aptly chosen “We shall Overcome” 💫💫💫 because a jazz guitarist is a Man in the World.
Bill had just dearly kissed his quite heavily modded Telecaster with birds artwork by Seattle-based painter Terry Turrell 💫
