Beautiful. What is the plinth material? Phenolic? The platter??
Thanks, Alan... epoxied slate, 40 kilos... bronze, 13 kilos.
Smart idea. The isolation properties of slate with unique aesthetics. I love my slate plinth but it does not have the drop dead factor of your plinth. I have been thinking about bronze platter for some time. The extra weight does not tax the motor?

Hi Alan... no, the motor isn't stressed at all... my gut feeling is that at some point at Garrard they also wished to give more weight;-)
Only cost policies (maybe) stopped them.
Jokes apart, the improved momentum and fly-wheel effect is REALLY awesome... still keeping the idler-wheel character.
Also the pre-stressed, original/stock chassis is OK and absolutely not self-destroying... the original bearing, instead, wouldn't support the weight.
Best,
S.
