Fred Frith’s I/II/III 💫

A monument to a musician who travelled to seldom visited places, indeed.

On the boxes are shown FF’s tools of the trade - i.e. the humble stuffs used to produce weird sounds and effects on the electric guitar… it’s more musique concrete old-school (à la Derek Bailey) approach, than these days multi-digital effects and pedals used by all and every guitar player.

I/II/III

I bought these boxes, worth 27 (twenty seven!) disks some months ago, but I’m (only) right now beginning my exploration… and it’s a selva oscura where Fred Frith -  like an eclectic, eccentric Virgilio - accompanies the listener to visit his favorite friends and places.

… and the journey is worth the effort, as at every chapter, beautiful flowers and rocks and landscapes and gems are disclosed to the pure of heart.

A world where I’m a returning visitor since my youth: from Henry Cow and Art Bears and beyond.

Thanks for your rubber-band guitar which taught to me so much, Fred.
