Tom speaking about Victor Feldman in 1983, “We used some exotic instruments.  Which I was against at first… Victor Feldman brought in all this stuff and said you could use it or not but you should hear it.  Victor for all his very rich traditional jazz experience as a pianist and composer has this real bent place in him.  In fact we took that “Dave the Butcher” tune, and he put tape on all the piano strings except the first eight notes on the low end and then just laid his hand across it and started banging on it… he got a thrill out of that.  That particular experiment didn’t get on the record but others did.  I used Victor as a barometer for how we were doing.  I had a lot of help.  You don’t go in there alone.  Ever.”
