Maybe one of the most sought-after 12” arms, ever… and - maybe - one of the most (sonically) overrated, too.
I owned one for decades and recently sold to a wealthy gentleman.
Don’t get me wrong: the arm is really nicely built and it sounds good, too…
… but sure it’s not worth the huge amounts of money it reached!
Almost twice an Ikeda 407!
Finding a defect, like for 10” FR 64-S: the spring anti-skating is a resonating-device 😱
I repaired a damaged 64-S and disengaged the spring: the sound improved considerably.
… nonetheless, wow! Such a sexy piece of audio history.
P.S. - Looking for a cheaper and better sounding FR’s arm? Try to locate an aluminum arm-wand FR 66-FX (opposed to stainless steel wand and silver wiring -S).
🤟
