Read his seminal "Blues People" in the '70s he wrote as LeRoi Jones and... WOW... I was into blues music forever.
I met him after a concert, in 2007, reading poems with a jazz combo... and, hey, he was Amiri Baraka, then... I hugged him.
A sincere voice of truest America... and a gentle spirit... I'll cherish even more a poems book he gave to me that evening of some years ago, with a soooo kind dedication.
Sure when a poet dies the Grim Reaper feels guilty.
